VLSI/ASIC Laboratory

Our department is the first among all institutions in Hong Kong to introduce ASIC design into our undergraduate program and as a specialised field of research. The laboratory is equipped with more than ten workstations and a range of PCs. A comprehensive and industrial standard suite of design software are installed on these computers, e.g. Cadence, Mentor Graphics, Synopsys, Viewlogic, Xilinx etc. We are able to develop PLD, FPGA, Gate Array, Standard Cell and Full Custom designs in the laboratory. We regularly submit standard cell and full custom designs to foundries such as AMS and Europractice. Also testing and peripheral equipment such as logic analyzer, network/spectrum analyzer, signal generator, digital scopes and optical microscope etc. are available.
